ABOUT

DKphoto.jpg
Hi, I'm Danielle Krupa, a wife and mother of 2 currently living in Boston, after 20 years in New York City.

I am a health-supportive chef, recipe developer and wellness expert. I have over 20 years' experience in the health & wellness world, from opening and running holistic wellness centers to working in integrative research at some of the top medical institutions in the country.

Professional Background

I graduated from the University of Connecticut with a B.S. in Human Development and Family Relations and from The City College of New York with an M.A. in Psychology. It was while working on my Master's Thesis that I started to explore the inter-connectedness of mind and body and its effect on health. I continued that exploration working in healthcare research for Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and Weill Cornell Medical College. In 2010 I completed my health counseling certification through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and the chef's training program at the Natural Gourmet Institute for Food and Health.

During this time, I started and ran a business providing meal delivery service, cooking classes, and nutritional consulting. I have interned and freelanced for several top NYC restaurants and catering companies as well as the test kitchen and nutrition department of Good Housekeeping Magazine. My work has been featured in Shape Magazine, NBC News, American Media Inc. Print Publications, The Kitchn, Red Tricycle, and more. I have worked with top food and wellness brands such as Daily Harvest, Four Sigmatic, Bob's Red Mill, BioMilk Skincare, 88 Acres, and much more.

When I'm not in the kitchen, you can find me running the nonprofit, Moms for Moms that I founded in 2014. Moms for Moms is a registered 501c3 organization that supports single mothers in need throughout New York City.

A Few Random Tidbits About Me:

  • My 6th grade science fair project was titled "Grapes Vs. Twinkies" – I was convinced those who ate a healthy breakfast had a higher GPA than those who didn't. I apparently also had pretty good foresight.....

  • I have seen hundreds of bands live. In another life I'd be a professional drummer.

  • I gave up coffee 3 years ago and replaced it with Matcha (best decision ever). If you follow me on Instagram you'll see I'm pretty obsessed with it.

  • I am deathly afraid of ferris wheels. And ocean rip tides. And scary movies (my husband will never forgive me for this one).

  • I've been practicing yoga for over 20 years. In those 20 years I've also had love affairs with Pilates, CrossFit, Strength Training and SoulCycle.

  • I am not a morning person. I thought I would become one after I had kids, but 7 years in now and no such luck.

  • Even though I've seen them hundreds of times, I can still watch Friends and SATC reruns nonstop. I also have a weakness for the Great British Baking Show.
