Recipe: Blueberry-Kale Smoothie

Kale Blueberry Smoothie

I don’t know about you, but Audrey and I have eaten more than our fair share of Valentine’s Day chocolate this past week.  Now that the free for all is over, it’s time to get back on track.  What better way to do this than with a blueberry-kale smoothie.  I started Audrey on green smoothies when she was about 8 months old (with the approval of our pediatrician). Being a liquid makes the kale easier to digest and the banana adds a palatable, creamy consistency.  Full of antioxidants, protein, vitamins and minerals, this healthy drink could be the start of your little one’s life long path towards eating well.

Blueberry-Kale Smoothie

Makes 4 kid servings

9 months + up

  1. 1 banana

  2. 1 cup roughly chopped kale

  3. 1 cup blueberries

  4. 1 ½ cups unsweetened almond milk (or milk of choice)

  5. 1 tablespoon flaxmeal

  6. 1 large handful ice

Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.  *If you do not have a very high-powered blender, add a bit more milk to create a smoother consistency.
