Recipe: Kale & Banana Purée

This is a simple little puree that is so delicious and good, Audrey honestly can’t get enough of it.  And while we’re being honest, I actually can’t get enough of it either.  It usually goes something like this….”one bite for you, one bite for me.”   And whether in a smoothie or a puree,  leafy green vegetables pair wonderfully with bananas.  They add just the right amount of sweetness without overpowering the deep rich flavor of the kale.

Kale & Banana Purée

9 months + up (raw kale)

6 months + up (steamed kale)

Makes 2 cups

  1. 2 medium bananas

  2. 1 cup packed kale leaves

  3. 1 cup full fat greek yogurt, divided

For babies under 10 months steam the kale first as it might be difficult on their digestive system raw.  Otherwise, add the kale, bananas and 1/2 cup of the yogurt to a food processor or blender and puree until smooth.  Pour puree into a large bowl and fold in remaining half cup of yogurt.  Store in the fridge for 2-3 days or freeze into individual servings for up to 6 months.

For yourself or older kids?  Add puree to popsicle molds for a healthy treat or to a blender over ice for a quick and delicious smoothie.

Enjoy!
